Children’s Day at the adventure pool

Once in early summer the adventure pool belongs to the children. Free entry, water, stalls to join in and a raffle in the afternoon. The town children’s festival is put on by the youth centre, the Hanseatic town and the municipal works.

When and where

The date sits in early June, usually on a Thursday, not fixed on 1 June. The afternoon usually runs from 2 pm to 6 pm. The exact day is in the events calendar once it is public.

The place is Erlebnisbad Havelberg, Lindenweg 6, in the upper town. From the water tower it is only a few minutes on foot. Parking belongs to the pool. If you are staying in town, walk or take the bike. From the countryside a lift is worth it, because many families arrive at the same time in the afternoon.

What the afternoon is for

It is not a stage festival where children only watch. Over the years the weight sits on join-in stations: face painting, crafts, a bouncy castle, a goal wall, a prize wheel, a quiz, a trampoline. Which stations stand exactly changes. The pattern stays: collect stamps, try something, move on.

The mark in the pool is the water-walking balls. You step into a large clear sphere and move it across the water. From outside it looks calm. Inside everything rolls and sways. The video below shows a ball from the pool side.

Beside the water there is often a quad track with cones. Children ride with a helmet, an adult stands next to them. Tents from 24MX mark this part of the festival. On the lawn SV 90 Havelberg puts out chessboards. Anyone who wants can sit down instead of only walking through the pool.

Towards the end of the afternoon prizes are drawn among those taking part. In some years there was also a Neptune baptism, trial rides with the rowers or displays by the model-sport club. Music comes from the ground, not from a large concert tent.

How long the festival has been here

The town children’s festival at the lido is a fixed series in Havelberg, not a one-off action day. In 2024 the Volksstimme counted the 29th festival. If you come with children, you walk into an afternoon families here have known for many years: the same address, free entry, water and stalls on one piece of ground.

The mix of pool and lawn stays. The water balls come back. Quads, chess, face painting and the raffle belong to the picture you recognise, even when individual stalls change. In 2013, for example, FSV Havelberg 1911 looked after the goal wall. Later the programme stepped back from a large stage, so more room to run remains.
