A short story
In 1667 a canonry of Domherr Melchior von Katte is recorded here. The present house dates from around 1723 and became known as the Bredowsche Domkurie. After the cathedral chapter was dissolved in 1819 it passed into private hands and was later let to teachers, merchants and cathedral cantors. In the 1990s the building stood empty; in 2008 a demolition permit was in place. It was saved and restored from 2010 by the association denkMal und Leben e. V. The brick wall in the courtyard carries the names of people who backed the restoration.
A branch of the registry office is marked on the house; weddings can take place here. Other wedding places in town include the town hall and St Anne’s Chapel.
