Havel Suites
In the historic house at Havelstraße 44, right at the harbour, sit the Havel Suites: seven individually fitted apartments in a nineteenth-century building. Thomas was born in Rathenow and grew up there; he lives with his family in Hamburg. Since 2021 he has renovated and extended the house step by step with Nora. Local tradespeople did the build-out. The result is high quality and, with sauna and a heated hot tub in the front garden, usable in the cooler months too.
Where it is
Havelstraße 44, 39539 Havelberg. Drive in via Bahnhofstraße. Directly opposite stands the former station building (train service ended in 1977). The house sits at the harbour; island town, cathedral and old town are on foot. Parking is on the plot.

The seven apartments
Some apartments look to Bahnhofstraße, others into the courtyard. Sizes and capacity differ; some units can be combined if needed.
Apartment Saale
Maisonette with up to eight sleeping places (about 100 m²): two double beds, two children’s bunks and a sofa bed. Private terrace with sun loungers, hammock, dining area and whirlpool.
Apartment Weser
About 75 m², up to seven people. Living room with a stove, bathroom with whirlpool, fully equipped kitchen with dining table.
Apartment Donau
2 rooms, about 60 m², up to four people. Two sleeping areas and a living kitchen; bathroom with whirlpool tub and a large shower.
Apartment Spree
2 rooms, about 60 m², up to six people. Parents’ bedroom, a further bedroom (for example a bunk) and a large living kitchen with a stove. Bathroom with bathtub and a large shower.
Apartment Elbe
Maisonette over two levels in the attic, about 55 m², up to seven people. Below: open kitchen and living area with stove, dining table and shower bathroom; a spiral stair up to the main bedroom and further sleeping places under the roof.
Apartment Rhein
2 rooms, about 50 m², up to four people. Bedroom with a large bed, living room with a sofa bed, fully equipped kitchen with dining table. Bathroom with shower and washer-dryer. Renovated in 2021.
Apartment Mosel
Compact 1-room apartment, about 25 m², for two people. Suits couples who want a central, simple stay.
Who it suits
- Families: cot, high chair, changing table, games, sandpit and a tree-house suite (not every extra in every apartment)
- Groups and multi-generation trips: up to about 38 beds in the house, apartments can be combined
- Couples: compact units such as Mosel or Rhein
- Guests with a dog or cat: pets expressly welcome
- Anyone using wellness and garden: sauna, hot tub and barbecue

A short story
Since 2021 Thomas and Nora have renovated and extended the house at Havelstraße 44 together. Thomas comes from Rathenow and lives with his family in Hamburg; local tradespeople carried out the conversion. What came out of it: seven apartments with a shared wellness area in the front garden.
